FRC Team 2708 – Lake Effect Robotics is a competitive, school-board–wide FIRST Robotics team based in Kingston, Ontario, under the Limestone District School Board. The team was formed in late 2016 through the merger of Team 2809 (K-Bots) from KCVI and Team 3710 (FSS Cyber Falcons) from Frontenac Secondary School. By combining resources, experience, and mentorship, the teams created a stronger, more unified program focused on engineering, teamwork, and community outreach. Our name comes from the “lake-effect” weather patterns caused by Lake Ontario, reflecting both our region and our resilient team identity. This merger has allowed students from schools without the resources to run their own FIRST team to participate, helping us inspire and support young individuals interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities for students to explore and succeed in a rapidly developing field of technology.
